Job Summary | The Department of Physics in the College of Science, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Space Physics. The Space Physics unit in the department plays an important leadership role for the NASA Geospace Dynamics Constellation (GDC) satellite mission, which focuses on multi-scale spatial and temporal variations of energy inputs and ionosphere-thermosphere coupling. The successful candidate will be able to contribute substantially; either in modeling or data analysis and enhance the research ability of the team in the related area. In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. Essential Duties and Responsibilities | The successful candidate must meet all expectations of a tenure-track faculty candidate: establish an independent and externally funded research program in space physics, provide research and mentoring opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and teach physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. |
Required Qualifications | Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in space physics or a closely related field, and some postdoctoral experience is desired. The candidates must demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The key objective is to hire a faculty member with outstanding qualifications that shares the University’s core values of high standards of excellence in teaching. In addition, the qualified candidate displays innovative and collaborative research, and service combined with fostering an open environment that promotes participation. |
